As if you didn't already have your own personal reasons for being a vegetarian, now you can add another reason to the list: Your favorite hero or mentor is probably one too! PETA has just launched their own limited edition stamp collection featuring twenty famous Vegetarians.
Oh yes, all the usual heroes are in there--Ghandi, Leonardo da Vinci, Ellen DeGeneres--but you'll also find the lesser known or obscure historical figure as part of the collection, like Albert Schweitzer or the author of my personal favorite theorem, Pythagoras.
Now I know what you're thinking: Stamps? What are those? In a bid to keep the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) alive, the Postmaster General (not a real military title) has graciously permitted the expansion of stamp themes to include those among us who place respect for animals above meaty sustenance.
Now, some have argued that having the likes of Woody Harrelson or Steve-O on a postage stamp degrades the respect and meaning of this venerable honor, but I say that anyone who consciously makes the choice to eat brussels sprouts over baby back ribs is okay in my book. This might be reason enough to dump my email and start writing snail mail again!
