If you’re going to go vegetarian you need to do a little more research. Vegetarians do not eat any animals. That includes chicken, fish and all other kinds of seafood. It also includes gelatin, rennet, carmine, lard and shelak.
You do get enough protein, unless you are starving yourself. Protein is a building block of life. To some level it’s in just about every food you eat. Veggies, beans, grains, seeds, nuts, fruits, breads, pasta, etc. Most Americans get too much protein, leading to kidney problems, dehydration and vitamin leeching.
You only need to take vitamins if you’re not eating well, but that’s true of all people. Many omnivores also should be taking a vitamins because they don’t get everything they need. Eat fruits and veggies, whole grains, nuts, beans, good fats (olive oil, coconut, alvocados, etc) Eat vitamin C with your iron (beans, green veggies, nuts.)
Read books, get cookbooks. Look at sites like the Mayo Clinic. Good luck.
none, since like meat the minerals and proteins in vitamins are insoluble.
all you have to do is eat your fresh whole fruits and veggies…and many other vegetable matter such as beans, mushrooms, nuts, seeds..
get it?
sorry, who ever told you that you don’t get enough protein is an ignorant fool.
there’s protein in everything even our feces has it.
though of course you do not have to eat that, all you do is pick up an avocado, spinach, beans, soymilk and suddenly you have all the protein and more that your daily recommended allowance and more.
simple.
also vitamin b-12 is in everything also, we are a dirty planet and all you have to do is lick your arm after sweating to get more than you daily allowance, though i rather you eat some carrots instead. (make sure the produce is fresh and not frozen, canned or processed in any other means. fresh guarentees you get more minerals, vitamins and fiberous proteins… )
I am a former chef and have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for over 5 years, I have been taking supplements like a multi-vitamin, a flax oil capsule, vitamin c, I had been taking garlic and vitamin e, but I also take blood pressure medications as I am a level 2 diabetic, and have no problems just to prevent it.
Look for natural source ones, if you eat fish, then fish oil capsules are fine, but I use flax oil mainly because it can repeat on you, after my oatmeal I was burping a fishy taste.
There are no vitamins in meat that you can’t get in other foods.
If you eat fish then you should be eating that for the protein. Since it doesn’t sound like that’s helping at all start eating things like nuts, beans and such that are packed full of protein.
As long as you’re eating a proper diet you shouldn’t be getting deficiencies.
No, you shouldn’t.
There is really no excuse for not getting enough protein especially if you eat fish.
Try eating some nuts, beans, lentils, peanut butter or any nut butter, soy products (tofu, milk, etc),cereals, pasta, vegetables.
you will get plenty of protein if you eat a variety of veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, and beans
just curious, why dont you think that you get enough protein?
CLA or Conjugated Linoleic Acid – since you don’t eat red meat.
I use hemp protein mix for protein and a good Vegan supplement.
You get plenty of protein, don’t worry about it.
If you eat a balanced diet, supplements are not necessary.
I would say to take iron but only if your hemoglobin is low when you get a checkup. Make sure to get protein through nuts and other things.
none, if you are eating a balance diet with many fruit and veggies, you should not need a vitamin.
I take the ones called a balanced diet.
Yes, that vitamin is called meat!
if you are not eating meat, you need to take a B12 vitamin.
a lack of B12 can be very serious.
