It's wrong to kill fish because they value their lives as much as you value yours. Just pointing out that other animals might hunt does not erase the fact that you know and understand that fishing causes suffering, and therefore you are causing needless, intentional suffering when you eat a fish. That is what is wrong with eating fish.

You do not need fish oil to supplement with, as one person suggests. Fish oil is NOT vegetarian. Flax oil is a great omega 3 oil, and is better than fish oil because it is not filled with toxic contaminants.

And yes, in Oregon, they ARE killing sea lions for "competing" with fishermen. The fishermen themselves have been illegally shooting and killing them for years, but now the Fish&Wildlife depts for the states of Oregon and Washington are murdering the sea lions by trapping them and injecting them with poison. Next year, they intend to shoot them in the water because the 17 they have killed so far has been deemed to not be enough killing for them. Incidentally, every year that they have been killing sea lions, they have raised the fishing quotas. They say the sea lions eat from 0.2% to 4% of the salmon, and that this is a "significant negative impact." At the same time, they have raised the fishing quotas for humans from 9% to 11% to 12% and now, this year, to 13% of all the salmon left on the Columbia. Adding in ocean bycatch, the number is even greater, and the salmon are going extinct due to human predation, not sea lion predation, but wildlife managers think they can mitigate the damage of YOUR diet by killing off natural predators to make room for this wanton and unnatural human predation.

ii) Because fish have feelings
Do you take all your moral cues from animals? Sometimes they eat their babies, you going to do that too?

Fresh sardines are the healthiest food you can eat. Any fish is excellent. I don't know a replacement to equal sardines.

1. Flaxseed
2. Walnut
3. Soybean
4. Strawberries
5. Spinach
6. Amaranth
Why is it wrong?
Because we don't need to eat them to survive, they're actually detrimental to health.
We don't hunt them, we catch them, it's crude and wrong.

I don't know about food but you can take fish oil supplements, that's what I do because I don't eat a lot of seafood. I don't think it's wrong to catch fish if you are eating the fish. It's nature, the food chain. It's wrong to kill for a sport in my opinion but eating is ok.

Vegetarians can't get upset over other people eating fish.

It's a losing battle. Save your energy.

The best thing you can do for your health regarding omega 3s is finding a pharmaceutical graded fish oil supplement and start eating flaxseed.

If you're a vegetarian, your best source of omega 3 fatty acids would be a pharmaceutical graded fish oil supplement. These products have no contamination.

Flaxseed is a good substitute as someone mentioned above, but you don't get the same omega 3 fatty acids. You get ALA, and the conversion rate to the really beneficial omega acids: DHA and EPA is not that great.

Vegetarians cannot get upset at other people eating fish.
It's a losing battle. Save your energy.

The best thing you can do for your own health concerning omega 3s is finding a good fish oil supplement and begin eating flaxseed.

"I dont think its wrong to catch fish because other animals hunt animals"
Other animals also pro-create with their siblings.
Do we need to warn your sister, or are you being selective in your animal / human comparisons today ?
When did you last see a tuna....
cage animals for life in order to rear it for food
ship live animals half way across the country in crates
selectively breed animals to produce freaks of nature
feed animals made with protiens from there own species
inject animals with hormones, antibiotics and other vacinations
And since when did the vast majority of people hunt in a fair one-on-one manner. I suppose you could call walking down the aisle and picking up a vacuum packed piece of fish as "hunting", but its a bit of a stretch.
Most animals live on instinct, their thought processes do not allow them to make comlpex judgements. Humans do have the abiltiy to make decisions based on impact, judgement, compassion and an understanding of the greater good. Its a shame we use that ability to think of ever more creative ways to exploit animals.
Well, at least some of us have those abilties, some of us apparently prefer to adopt the behavioural standards of wild fish

If you don't think its wrong to eat fish then continue eating it. I suggest getting the locally farmed fish though. It does not contain all the Mercury.
You can get omega 3 from oils and flax seeds if you do not eat fish, but its not complete. Flax seeds only contain ala not epa and dha like fish oil or seafood. The ala in flax can be coverted by the body to dha, but its only at a rate of half of 1%.
