What Are Some Vitamins And Nutrients I’m Going To Need To Stay Heathly While Being A Vegetarian?
ByI just started the Veggie lifestyle, and I’m concerned about my nutrition. I know there are a few (or alot) of nutrients I’m going to be missing without meat in my diet. I know a few things about which nutrients are found in which foods, but not as much as I probably should know. Which foods are best for the nutrients I’m going to be missing in order to stay healthy? What kind of supplements/vitamins should I take as well? Thanks this would help so much =]

Wow you actually thinl that there are missing nutrients in a vegetarian diet? Well sorry to tell you but you couldn’t be more wrong. You probably think that you will be protein deficient… WRONG- meat does have tons of protein, but way more than you would ever need, most avid meat-eaters end up with something wrong with their kidneys because eating too much animal protein is horrible for your kidneys.
Lots of anti-Vegetarians try to tell you that you will be iron deficient, and say that the only way to get enough iron is to eat meat. But where do you think cow you eat gets it’s iron? I’ll tell you where- greens.
If you eat enough leafy greens, (i.e. spinach, red lettuce) you’ll be fine.
Eat your legumes!
eat your leafy greens!
and eat your whole grains!
and you should be just fine.
p.s. remember that a Vegan lifestyle is the healthiest and most natural way to live… for more info visit goveg.com
I hope you are not a troll question?
I find it utterly amazing that most people eat a SAD (Standard American Diet) – heavy on the artery clogging meat, mucous forming dairy, heavily processed flour, nutritionally dead depleted processed packaged foods full of artificial toxic chemicals and refined sugars.
During the SAD period the issue of “getting enough nutrients”, never gets thought about or mentioned.
Then as soon as people change onto a vegetarian lifestyle (which if done right, is super high in nutritionally rich natural foods) they all get suddenly panicky about missing out on nutrients!!!
As long as you eat a varied diet, with plenty of daily fresh raw fruits and fresh raw vegetables (especially green leafy) and fresh raw vegetable juices, you will be fine.http://www.juicing-for-health.com/http://www.bestjuicers.com/recipes.html

Most nutrients in meat and fish can be obtained by eating the correct vegetarian diet. Meat has a lot of proteins. Eat food high in proteins such as various type of beans- chick peas, black beans, soy beans, etc. also add Tofu, Qourn to your meals. If you drink a lot of milk that is good.

You should also eat food that is high in minerals and Omega 3 fat.
you get these in milk, cheese, kiwi fruit, brocolli, cabbage, spinich and almonds and walnuts.

If you start eating the right diet you don t need any food supplements.
Brazil nuts and dried apricots are great sources of iron, calcium and B vitamins – easy to snack on too. B vitamins are essential for your body and can also be found in marmite, soya and tofu. Make sure you eat plenty of fruit and veg (spinach is also good for iron), as well as carbs (pasta, bread, potatoes) and beans/lentils/nuts which are great sources of protein.
You know, you’ll need exactly the same nutrients that you did when you were eating meat. Your biological needs aren’t changing. The most common deficiencies people have, regardless of their meat eating status, are calcium, iron and iodine.
have 3 meals a day with a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, grains, cheese, eggs. should not need supplements.
meat is not a superfood.
I wouldn’t recommend supplements unless a blood test shows a deficiency. I know vegans who are perfectly healthy with their diets.
