Vitamins in pill form are a waste. The body doesn't absorb them. Eating your fruit and veg is a much better option!http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/209667...

Make sure that you are getting sufficient B-group vitamins, but I would check whether there is room for improvement in your diet before you resort to taking supplements. Soy-based foods, bananas and lentils are all good sources.

You don't need any pills to be a healthy vegetarian. There is no reason you should need to supplement protein or calcium or iron or b12.
You can get protein in:
Fruits and vegetables
Quinoa
Beans
Legumes
Nuts
TVP
Tofu
Mushrooms
You can find calcium in:
Oranges(one orange contains nearly your entire RDA)
Quinoa
Spinach
Kale
Brocolli
Studies have shown that vegetarians absorb and retain more calcium from foods than do nonvegetarians. Vegetable greens such as spinach, kale and broccoli, and some legumes and soybean products are good sources of calcium from plants. http://www.americanheart.org/Heart_and_S...
You will find iron in:
Brocolli
spirulina
Soybeans
lentils
tofu
quinoa
Tempeh
chickpeas
Tahini
kidney beans
You can get b12 from the following:
Tofu
Soy milk
Spirulina
Unwashed veg

Well, try a small amount of vitamin B12.
and some ground flaxseed. The flaxseed is expensive at GNC, but they have vegetarian vitamin B12. I don't think they have vegetarian Omega 3 DHA at GNC, but you can ask. You want the one made from algae, not the one from fish oil. Or you can just try that flaxseed for omega 3. Try your grocery store for flax meal or ground flaxseed, or you can try the GNC flaxseed, but it was overpriced last time I looked.
Also stop by a book store and look at some vegan/vegetarian cookbooks to see if there are any new ideas for meals you might want to try. Having something new and exciting might lift your spirits a little.
Don't rely on the B12 in a multivitamin. Get a separate B12 and crush or chew it when you eat it. There is a little bit of B12 in milk and eggs, but it may do you good to have more.
The most important thing is to eat healthy and not rely on a pill for nutrition. There are lots of vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetables

The best way to know what you may need to supplement with is by going to your doctor and having tests run to see if you need something in particular. But if not going to do that, then a general vitamin isn't going to harm you at all.
I supplement with B12 at the suggestion of my doctor. Not that I have a problem, but that by the time that they find out that you do have a problem, serious damage can be done that is not reversible. It is cheap, as in under $5.00 the last time I bought it and that was at Whole Foods even.
As to the "happiness" issue that you write about. That could be any number of things - things going on in your life that is giving you concern, problems to the situations going on in the world today. If it continues, I would consult a doctor about it and address the issue head-on.
