I’ve Never Met A Healthy Looking Vegan… Do They Actually Exist?
ByI don’t mean Vegetarians… I’ve seen vegetarians of all shapes and sizes. Some of them are really fit and healthy, others are sallow and boney and others are even obese. But vegans on the other hand, I’ve only met ones that were really skinny, pale and sickly looking. Despite their appearance they would insist that their diet was super healthy and superior to other diets… it just seems extreme to me. And if the Vegan Diet is so great why do vegans have to use so many supplements in order to get just basic nutrition?

Unfortunately for human beings, our bodies evolved to be healthily supported off of a balance of meat and produce. We’re built to exist on a safe balance of both, so it is no wonder both Vegetarians and vegans run the risk of malnutrition. A Vegan Diet can be beneficial to the participants if it is properly structured, but most vegans don’t choose their lifestyle because they think it’s truly “healthy”. Religious beliefs, environmental concerns and animal rights are the leading reasons for choosing the vegan lifestyle, and those who truly do understand what the lifestyle includes take supplements. I’m sure you took a multivitamin as a child, so what’s the difference? Vitamin B 12, calcium, and protein (deficient in Vegan Diets) are all available in pill form.
My sister has been a vegan for three years, and looks like your average college student. There is a way to stay healthy as a vegan.
skiny is in its discusting but scene
yes, they are very evil people and basically from hell and you should stay away from them if you know what’s good for you because they can mess you up with their evil Vegan powers
I’m a Vegan and I have been for almost a year now, I am 15 years old and I eat strictly organic and natural foods. I am a healthy 110 pounds and actually really tan during summer. Most people can’t tell I’m a vegan till I actually tell them. It’s the things inside/how they make things that normal people and veggie’s eat and grosses me out that’s why I made the switch. YES IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE HEALTHY, I only take one vitamin a day too. GO VEGAN!

they are all Vegan.. are they pale and unhealthy?
Siiigghhh. Not all vegans are super skinny. Not all vegans need a plethora of supplements and no, not all evil either. Some may seem evil from being annoyed by conversations like this. It ain’t easy. But there are loads of healthy and happy vegans who are just less visible than the malnourished miserable ones…because they look like normal people…
What? That is possibly the stupidest generalization I have ever read. Most people whether they are omnivorous, vegetarian or Vegan don’t know squat about nutrition. Contrary to the mass uneducated assumption, protein and calcium are not deficient in Vegan Diets. You just have to do a little research. May I suggest the Thrive books by Brendan Brazier, or even just google “vegan nutrition”.
Regardless of your diet choice you should know where everything you put in your mouth comes from. If not, that makes for fat omnivores and incredibly skinny vegans. Luckily vegans are typically more conscious of the food they consume (comes with the territory -being vegan and all) so they are usually healthier and not malnourished. However, you do randomly get vegans who think a diet of iceburg lettuce and french fries is acceptable. They usually are not vegan for long. I’m not sure where you are meeting your vegans but perhaps you should expand your horizons.
Also a little side note: I have been vegan for 4 years. I am a gymnast, aerialist, hand balancer, and long distance runner. I am never sick and am at an extremely healthy weight. My skin glows, and my nails and hair are strong. The only supplement I take is B12. I also am happy with my noble decision to put a little more effort into my lifestyle to benefit myself, the world and all sentient beings.
I don’t know where you are meeting all these sickly vegans. I’m a slightly overweight healthy Vegan who never gets colds and flus anymore since cutting out the dairy and eggs. I used to get sick all the time. I hear this again and again from vegans I meet, too.
I think tiny amounts of animal products mixed with mostly plant foods can be a healthful diet, too. But come on, how many people do you know who eat like that? The proof is in the pudding. Look at the results of the Western diet: lots of obesity and cancer. Hang out at some vegan/vegetarian events and look around. There’s no comparison to the general public. These people look younger than their age and more height weight appropriate that what you see on any public bus anywhere.
