How To Influence Your Friends To Become Vegetarian Or Vegan?

By admin

My friend won’t even listen to me when I tell him how healthy this lifestyle is, yet he is obsessed with nutrition. He says the only vegetables he “eats” are in V8 V fusion juice. He also won’t listen to me when I tell him about the animal ethics aspect.

  1. You cannot force your diet and lifestyle on people. Tell him about your position, give him information to back it up like this http://eatright.org/ada/files/veg.pdf Then let it drop. If he’s interested, he will come to it in his own time. It’s less likely that he will take you seriously if you keep being a pain in the neck about it.
Set a good example as a Vegan. Be a good friend, be a good person, don’t constantly annoy the heck out of people, take care of your health, eat right, and lead by that example.

As a vegetarian, I know how you feel. It can be extremely frustrating to explain your views to someone who doesn’t agree with the vegetarian lifestyle, especially if they are close friends or family.
To be honest, your friend is being immature if he will not listen to you respectfully. However, you cannot force him to listen. Some people are just stuck in their ways and will not listen to any new ideas. You just have to “agree to disagree” with people like that, and hope the subject doesn’t come up too much.
    Good luck! :)

As much as i’d love for all of my friends to become Vegetarians like me I would never force or ‘influence’ them into it. It is a personal decision. Not everyone is going to agree with your lifestyle – friends included. You should let your friend eat whatever he wants to eat. At the end of the day it’s his choice not yours. How would you like it if your friend tried to influence you into eating meat? And while a vegetarian diet is healthy it depends on the way you go about eating. A meat diet may be healthier then a vegetarian diet in some cases.

  4. Me says:

My best friends are Vegetarians. I stopped being friends with someone when he wore a leather jacket. I can’t see myself being good friends with a murderer. I have some non – vegetarian friends but they aren’t very good friends.

  5. Just lead by example, your obvious better health would have a greater influence than any amount of reasoning

  6. Chandler H says:

tell them they’ll be saving lives in africa
    which is true
so much food and water is wasted feeding farm animals
that food and water could go to those malnutrious children in africa

  7. Maria says:

Don’t give up on your friend, yet. With lots of positive support and a few good examples, he’ll be able to see for himself that vegetarian diet is way better than carnivore’s.

Tips: show him “The Corporation” or “Food, Inc” – amazing documentaries, btw!!!
Also great, “Fast Food Nation”, “Mendel in the Kitchen”, and so on.

    Hope this helps.
    Best!!!

  8. wishbone says:

He evidently does not want to listen to you. Leave him alone.

  9. ohaiguiz says:
