Why Many Quick Weight Loss Diets Don’t Work
ByThere are so many diets on the market, all promising to help you achieve the body you have always wanted. The problem, though, is that many quick weight loss diets are quick because they are not lasting.
The truth is most people could lose ten pounds in a week if they ate only cabbage (have you tried the cabbage diet? Or the grapefruit diet? Or the soup diet?).
These quick weight loss diets and others like them inevitably fail. To lose weight and maintain your ideal weight, you need real change in your life. Not a fad.
When we look, and look, and look, for some help in our quests to lose weight, quick weight loss diets become extremely enticing. This, we think, is what I have been looking for. This will work. We are willing to believe unbelievable claims because we want to and need to.
And still others find quick, temporary weight loss better than nothing. Seeing some results, even if they don’t last long, seems preferable to struggling.
If you are still tempted to try a fad diet, consider the reasons why they don’t work:
1. They’re boring!
Most quick weight loss diets focus on specific food; they don’t encourage a balanced approach to eating. We eat the same foods all the time.
It quickly becomes tedious to prepare food and eat it. While you may think this will help you eat less, it actually leads to?
2. Cheat a little, cheat a lot.
When you are limiting yourself and restricting the foods you eat, the forbidden seems doubly alluring. One cookie won’t hurt, you think. But then you end up gobbling a whole bag.
You often consume more calories and fat when on a quick weight loss diet because they are so hard to stick with and get back on when you slip.
3. It is difficult to adhere to these diets.
These quick weight loss diets are fraught with danger. From overeating to food boredom, you can quickly loose interest and motivation.
4. The risk of gaining weight.
When you go off your diet, you could end up gaining back any weight you’ve lost and even more. This may be because you overcompensate for what you missed out on while on the diet.
It is devastating to realize you haven’t made any progress.
The alternative to quick weight loss diets? The answer is healthy eating habits and regular exercise.
There is just no other way to lose weight and maintain your ideal body size. Good diet and exercise are essential.
To see real and lasting changes in your body, incorporate some of the following into your life:
* Add more nutrient-dense vegetables to every meal.
* To keep your body healthy and help it burn fat, eat more fiber.
* Sprinkle 5-6 small meals throughout your day.
* Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it should be the largest. Make dinner small and light.
* Move more. Even simple things like taking the stairs, doing some sit-ups and pushups during commercials, or playing catch with your child can have a big impact on your fitness level.
* Have regular workouts. If you are too busy for one long exercise session per day, do several short ones.
* Add rich whole grains to your diet.
* Stop drinking your calories. Cut out sugary drinks like soda and make your calorie choices count.
The longest journeys begin with a single step. This is true of weight loss too. Little steps can lead to great rewards, and if you make a few good changes, you can achieve a lasting change in your body and health.
Living a more healthy life overall is the best ? and only ? way to shed extra pounds. You’ll no longer have to ?diet.? You’ll simply do what’s best for your body.
Why settle for temporary solutions offered by quick weight loss diets? They are full of empty promises.
