Does Following A Vegan Diet Increase That Risk Of Gout?
Does following a vegan diet increase that risk of gout?
There's a popular myth that if you're vegan or vegetarian, you have a higher chance of getting the disease gout (metabolic arthritis), which is a condition in which crystals of monosodium urate or uric acid are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues. Is there anyone who can help me disprove this?

It's possible but it looks like gout transcends dietary designation by the variety of foods that can cause it:
"Foods that Cause Gout
Some people may benefit from a reduction of purine rich foods. These include beer and other alcoholic beverages, anchovies, sardines (in oil), fish roes, herring, yeast, organ meats (e.g., liver, kidneys), legumes (e.g., dried beans, peas, and soybeans), meat extracts, consommé, gravies, mushrooms, spinach, asparagus, cauliflower, and poultry. Weight loss can help reduce uric acid levels in those people that are overweight."
Matt-the human body produces uric acid.

It is recommended for the person wanting to heal from gout to be on a totally Vegan Diet. A vegan diet for gout would include an increase of fresh fruits, vegetables, and uncooked nuts and berries. In addition, the person should decrease in the intake of white breads and other processed foods.
Also, the person should used vegetable oil in place of butter or margarine, and should drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Futhermore, it is recommended to replace meats with plant sources for protein intake, and to drink a milk made from plants rather than animals, such as rice or soy milk. This meatless diet will help clean out the colon, and reduce toxic buildup in the muscles which causes arthritic conditions such as gout.
The body does not have the enzymes to break down uric acid (urine from the animal) that is in the meat when it is slaughtered. This uric acid builds up in the body and causes gout and arthritis.
its not a myth………..
