I Have Found That Eating a Vegetarian Diet Is a Bit Socially Awkward. Anyone Else Experience the Same?

Ok, so I’m on my third week of a Vegetarian diet, and plan to keep going. Very few of our friends are Vegetarians. I feel like I’m coming out of the closet when I tell friends and family members that I quit eating meat. Can anyone else relate to the awkwardness of having to tell people about your diet?
It is a bit strange at first. You just have to make sure you are armed with enough information about your diet to answer questions and concerns they might have. If you’re in an area of the country where there are not a lot of vegetarians, you might be the only one your circle of friends and family know.
It will pass with time.

What Does a Healthy Vegetarian Diet Look Like? ?

I've recently become a vegetarian. It wasn't exactly planned, I just sort of stopped eating meat…I do, however, still eat fish from time to time. I was wondering if any one could give me some advice for a healthy and tasty vegetarian diet? Or just any advice to someone new to vegetarianism.
Yes, thank you, I am aware that I am technically a pescatarian. Sorry I wasn't specific enough for you, buddy.
I've been a vegetarian for 6 years, and it took me a while to figure out that just because you are a vegetarian doesn't mean you automatically eat healthy. The main thing is protein- you will be so hungry if you don't get enough! I eat a lot of veggie burgers, peanut butter, eggs, beans, and spicy tofu. A tip- a lot of ethnic food is mainly vegetarian, like Indian and African. Also, keep it interesting. I love to cook for myself and if you get a cookbook with easy recipes, you'll end up doing it every night. I also recommend a daily vitamin. 1/4 protein 1/4 carb, and 1/2 vegetable should make up each mean (ideally).

Is It Safe to Maintain a Vegetarian Diet During Pregnancy?

Should a vegetarian change her diet when she becomes pregnant?
My mother had 4 successful, healthy pregnancies as a vegetarian – and then, during the 5th, a 'clever' doctor decided that she couldn't possibly be getting enough protein on a vegetarian diet, so he ordered her to eat fish! How f**ked-up is that? Of course, we're talking about the mid-60s, so perhaps the GPs at the time were even less clued-up about nutrition than the current woeful crop of GPs are.
Basically, the answers to your questions are:
Yes, it is perfectly safe to maintain a vegetarian diet during pregnancy.
Yes, ALL women (not just vegetarians) need to increase their intake of certain nutrients during pregnancy. That doesn't mean changing from a vegetarian to a non-vegetarian diet, though.

What Is the Best Way to Make a Vegetarian Diet More Appetizing At First ?

I would like to start a vegetarian diet. The main reason is for health and weight loss. The second is I was informed recently that certain things in greens and other vegetables make conception easier. Any suggestions on low calorie toppings or additions to making this diet easier to stick to ?
As a woman striving to start a family, you’re going to have to do this sooner or later: learn how to cook. I switched from being an omnivore to veganism (no meat, dairy, eggs, or honey) and have had no problems with it because I cook well.
So, make spices and aromatic vegetables your friend.
